Toothless old Giovanni convinced us to follow him down a dark alley to take a gondola ride with him rather than with one of the more commercial offerings. He was a little older and slower than the operators of most other gondolas, but as a result we ended up going for a gently paced relaxing ride. We were actually passed by one of the younger operators twice on our tour!
