Follina

Now the relevence of this picture may not be immediately obvious. It is the speedometer. While back home people usually drive at around 100 kph, here we are in Italy in the slow lane driving at 160 kph and although you cannot see it, we are being passed by an Audi at about 280 kph! I could really get used to living here! The other thing about driving in Italy is that drivers cooperate with each other. They let each other know what their intentions are at all times. Oh, yeah, and they pay attention to what's going on on the road. In spite of the speeds, I felt very safe at all times.

This is al Maxicono our favourite ice cream parlour in Folina. The proprietor, Romeo was very friendly, spoke no English, and we had conversations with him for hours at a time with the aid of our phrase books and dictionary.
